Indoor & outdoor leisure concept “Family by JW – where PLAY feels Natural”
Due to the Corona virus all our ongoing projects facing delay. We are glad to say that these projects are not cancelled. We have to stay positive and we try to work also on the process after Corona. During the Coronavirus crises we are working on an indoor and outdoor leisure family concept for JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts.
Studio Stoerrr has joined a great project. A tender for a total concept for a 5 star resort in Madeira, to redevelop a plot of 16 hectare. The Hotel building, the lobby, accommodations, restaurants, pools, SPA, the Marina, outdoor area’s and of course lots of leisure and family fun indoor as well as outdoor. We’re broadening our horizons with our team and now buried deep in our dreams and concepts for this exciting new venture on the beautiful island of Madeira.

Total Concept Development Hotel included Leisure facility & activity development
Redesign of all area’s indoor as well as outdoor – Restyle of all interiors (Villa’s, Appartments, Lobby, Restaurants, Retail etc.)
The worktitle for this pre-concept project is “Behind the Hilltops”
Just behind the hilltops lies a wonderful world worth exploring, where the very best that Madeira has to offer can be discovered in a tranquil, beautiful natural setting, right by the sea.
Different worlds collide here to form an intriguing and engaging holiday resort which will satisfy multiple target groups. Families with children looking for fun and relaxation, young adventurous couples and the older generation interested in culture, active holidays and traditional Portuguese cuisine.
Old world meets new world as we reinvent the idea of a traditional Portuguese fishing village by adding hip design that uses typical Madeiran influences, great locally sourced food and a wide range of activities, both active and relaxing which will please all generations.
Life behind the hills is Madeira as it was meant to be. With the warmth of both the sun and friendly smile of locals turning holidays into one big family affair where everybody feels welcome and will be ensured an unforgettable experience. The new hotel will become a home from home, providing a stress free, nature, health and local food inspired holiday with a strong authentic yet modern Madeira flavour.
Life behind the hills is not only real celebration of the best of Madeiran food & culture & style & life philosophy, but also a place to relax, rejuvenate and recharge those batteries.
We Keep you posted regarding this amazing challenge!

Arcen, Friday 4 June 2021 – Roompot park Klein Vink will open its completely renovated kids zone tomorrow. The Indoor fun & café will become a real attraction for lots of families. When creating this zone, Roompot paid a great deal of attention to the mix of digital experiences, a unique indoor play experience, discovery of the region and a varied offering of workshops.
The many loyal guests of the Roompot park Klein Vink in Arcen will not believe their eyes and ears when they step into the space where there was once just a playground. Roompot and a team of specialists transformed this space of no less than 526m² in 14 weeks into a unique Indoor fun & café where the whole family will have a fantastic time.
From 0 to 99 years old
Roompot has succeeded in creating unique experiences and a complete family concept in this space. Allowing the youngest guests to play in a safe natural space close to their parents. In the nest houses they can discover building cabinets with sustainable, safe toys made from cork and building blocks, picture books from which parents can read aloud to their children and cuddly toys with which they can enjoy fun role-playing games.
With the new unique and innovative experiences that are unprecedented at a holiday park, four to seven year olds can fully enjoy themselves in the same space as the teenage target group.
Studio Stoerrr is evolving more and more as a family concept developer. At the moment we are working on Style Book Development for JW Marriott International and on a Strategic Plan for a family Centered Wellness Club for an Eco Resort in Portugal, both indoor and outdoor plans to be developed….
The 21st century guest is used
to experiencing digital self- service wherever they go. At airports, train stations, movie theatres
and even at fast food restaurants. One area where this has not yet happened is
When guests enter a lobby they are usually
faced with an enormous front desk where they have to stand in line to check in
and wait for their credit card to be checked before they receive the key to
For some guests this can be a daunting and
tiring process. Especially after a long days travelling, with an energetic and
impatient 5 year old in tow. Sometimes you just want to walk in, get face to
face friendly service and get to your room for that refreshing shower as
quickly as possible, without having to listen to the complaints of other guests
waiting in line before you.
So why not streamline this process. Shorten
the waiting time and give your guests a warmer welcome? How? By ditching the
desk and implementing new technology to automate the check in.
By Removing the physical barrier between
host and guest, you have the opportunity to create a more personal, human touch.
Welcome your guests as if into your home, into a living room type atmosphere
with cosy check in lounges where guests have the freedom to check in
themselves, but can also ask a personal check in assistant for help if
required. One who actually makes eye contact with you and smiles instead of
staring at his computer screen while he checks your details.
First impressions are everything. So why not design the perfect environment to warmly welcome your guests in your lobby and use technology to speed up the check in process. This way you can also turn your reception area into a multi functional area that is 100% in line with your overall hotel concept.
So if you’re ready to give
your guests the 21st century welcome they deserve and desire, ditch
the desk! Replace it with a homely welcome area. Add a little fun and a large
dose of technology and be amazed at what you can achieve.

Every child loves to play and every child loves a good story
That’s why a kids club needs to be more than just cool design and playing units. It needs heart and soul and purpose. A great story telling concept can create this and give the kids club that little bit extra that makes it truly magical…instead of just great.
Stoerrr – Kids Concepts uses storytelling to develop new concepts for Kids Clubs in Hotels and Resorts.
For this resort located on Phu Quoc island – Vietnam we used local elements to strengthen the Concept Story.
A fully Adventure Play Zone with interactive gaming will be build in the Kids Club Play Area, the Vietnam myths such as the Phoenix, The Tortoise, the Unicorn and the Emerald are cultural elements of Vietnam we bring in as a common themes. Besides the Adventure Play Zone, we design & develop the entire interior such as the play rooms, the reception/entrance, washing room, furniture, entertainment programme and a loyalty programme.
Regent Resort Phu Quoc Vietnam
Regent PhuQuoc will be in the heart of Phu Quoc Marina, set to be the hottest new destination in Vietnam. The spectacular 400-room waterfront property will bring true luxury to this new lifestyle destination. It will offer both spacious hotel rooms and private residences; each unit will be equipped with a Lake Villa, Beach or Sky Villa that will include a private swimming pool and magnificent sea views.
Regent Phu Quoc will also offer world-class dining and Michelin-starred dining options, spectacular private beaches, a luxury spa, pool and gym facilities. As with all Regent Hotels & Resorts, the property will combine indigenous design that encapsulates the essence of the locale, with understated luxury, providing guests with extraordinary world-class accommodation experiences and living spaces.
Hotel kids clubs. Just extra service or also extra source of revenue?
Is your kids club making money for you? Do you regard it as a necessary service for your guests with young children or do you also see the potential to turn it into a good stream of revenue? With a strong storytelling concept, captivating and creative activities and inspiring design, your kids club could be far more than just another extra service for the family audience, it can become a self- sufficient revenue generator that ensures the loyalty and business of your guests for generations to come.

Missed opportunity for repeat business
Most hotels have a dilemma when it comes to children’s entertainment. They need a kids club for their family guests, but don’t want to spend too much on it. From my experience talking to a lot of kids club project managers there are 2 main reasons why kids clubs are not given the attention they deserve. The first is a lack of expertise within the hotel regarding what a kids club should be, contain and look like. The second is simply because it is not regarded as being of high enough importance to spend a reasonable budget on. The end result is more than often just a fairly nice piece of design without a heart and soul or the pedagogic expertise to really capture the imagination of the children. This is a missed opportunity, as winning the hearts of the children is vital for repeat business. Win the kids over and they will win over their parents, your clients, to return back to the hotel next year. Wow them and you’ll have a guest for life. Kids become adults and have kids themselves. Give them the holiday they will never forget. With a cool, fun and creative kids club. With interesting and inspiring activities. Happy kids make for happy holidays as every parent will confirm. So take the time, energy and money to create something special. It could reward you with repeat business and customers for life.
Kids love a good story, so it makes sense to weave a great one into the fabric of your children’s concept. A story is the most simple way to captivate kids. Unfortunately, most kids clubs do not tell a story and are put together by a designer who is not a specialist in the family sector. A story should also be immersed into the design details of the kids club and the activities offered in the club, so that it becomes one big giant adventure, instead of a series of unconnected activities and areas. Immersing storytelling into a kids concept should be kept fairly simple and be relevant by using local myths or legends that can give children extra insight into the country or place they are staying in. Creating fictional characters that act as fun educational ambassadors is also an effective way to add some extra narrative power to your concept.
360 degrees of family fun
The hotel kids club of the future should be more than simply an extra service for guests with young children. If linked correctly to the rest of the hotel, such as the food and beverage and bedrooms and when coupled with a strong loyalty programme, they can become a great way to increase client retention and loyalty and ultimately become good revenue generators through an increase in repeat business. Kids clubs can also generate extra revenue through merchandising, paid family excursions organized by the hotel, dedicated kids club menus in the main restaurant and kids branded room service menus. A good family hotel should provide 360 degrees of family fun. From the moment a client books, to the moment he returns home. A guest should be made to feel as if the hotel is 100% dedicated to providing the perfect holiday for all the family during every phase of his holiday.
Expertise and consulting
When the toilets are blocked, you call a plumber? When a light is broken an electrician. But when a kids club is required, quite often a design agency with no real knowledge of the family sector is used. Pool managers are promoted to kids club managers and put in charge of kids club creation projects. Without the expertise that’s needed or the correct guidance, the end results are what 90% of current kids clubs look like. Pretty design, with no real substance. Uninspiring, unimaginative and ineffective. A missed opportunity. To get the most out of your budget and really create a kids club that get start generating loyalty and revenue for you, consult an expert with the knowledge, skills and creativity to create the kids club your hotel and guests deserve!

3 Elements that Create Loyal Kids; Capturing the Traveling Family!
Exclusive Feature: The Market: The family travel market is booming; In fact it’s the fastest growing niche in the leisure market and with over 115 million holidays a year involving kids it’s also one that cannot be ignored by the hotel industry.
But today’s Parents are spoiled for choice by an overwhelming abundance of child friendly hotels and resorts with animation teams to take care of the kids.
So how do they make up their minds where to stay?
A major factor in their decision as to where they stay can be determined by their perception of the quality of the Kids Club within the hotel.
The standards that they demand are high. The Kids Clubs must be safe, entertaining, stimulating and also recognize the wishes of the modern parent. With worldwide obesity figures amongst children on the rise, the food provided must be healthy, nutritious and yet appealing to kids.
Parents want to pick up energy spent happy contented kids who have had the time of their lives.
The new breed
The new breed of Kids Clubs have recognised that a lick of bright paint and some toys and cushions will no longer cut the mustard. They combine cool design with a well thought- out pedagogical philosophy and play based learning programs1 to make sure that they are not just a place of fun and entertainment, but are an intelligent, healthy and stimulating environment where children can get the exercise and mental stimulation they need to trigger successful growth.
When it comes to the activities organised by the Kids Clubs, traditional arts and crafts are no longer enough to satisfy the new generation of eager learning kids.
Hotels are implementing highly creative and educational programs2, from The Waldorf Astoria’s Gladiator training in Rome, to The Ritz Carlton’s Ocean Futures Society, designed by Jean-Michel Cousteau to create awareness amongst children for environmental issues.
The 3 elements of the Kids club
The Kids Clubs of the future are stylishly designed based on Storytelling with a link to nature and with careful planning going into lighting, climate control and air quality. They are a perfect balance between fun and education.
By focussing on 3 key elements, exercise (indoor as well as outdoor), innovation and healthy eating, they not only make a child fitter and smarter but by stimulating both the body and brain actually make them happier.3
Happy children make for happy families and create a better customer experience all round that can dramatically increase the % of return customers in the travelling family segment.
When combined with an effective strategy for family rooms and child friendly dining schemes , the Kids Club can become a powerful tool to help hotels win ground in the ever growing travelling family market.

Reviews on St.Regis Vommuli Resort, Maldives, Starwood Hotels
“The staff at the kids club were also tremendous. They had great activities for the kids, mixing quiet time of arts and crafts with active time running around playing indoor soccer and going out on the playground. In terms of food we would recommend the Kids Pass for your children’s meal options, which at $30/day for lunch and dinner is a great way to avoid having to buy them a $50 entre they may not eat. We spent Christmas at the resort, and this again showed how they spared no expense. The kids club organized a Christmas tree lighting party with carols and snacks. Kids went around the island caroling. Christmas morning Santa arrived on a Jet Ski bearing personalized gifts for each of the children, while parents were treated to champagne.”
“Mummy, can I go to the Kid’s Club please?” That’s my 6 year old son’s favorite place to check out everyday at Stregis Maldives. He had lots of fun playing with the other kids he met there and also participating in the fun-filled and educational activities which were properly planned on a daily basis. He was very reluctant to leave the beautiful resort cause he said he will miss the kids club very much.- Thanks to Eeklin, Tripadvisor Contributor from Malaysia
